Dapper Rapper

Musician, Urbanist, Bon Vivant and Kansas City Enthusiast

thePhantom* is one of Kansas City most elusive yet heralded Rap/EDM artists. Maintaining his integrity as a rapper, thePhantom* formlessly combines both elements of popular Dance/Electronic music in his production style with Rap aesthetics to create what many have coined to be "Dapper Rap". His performance style is often considered to be one of the most energetic and orchestrated in the Midwest. As the lead singer of the 8-member Funk/Rap/Soul band The Phantastics, thePhantom*, shines as a complete showmen embracing a James Brown-esque persona via syncopated vocals, rhythmic dance moves and dapper costume style. Additionally, thePhantom* is one half of the notorious hip-hop duo Center of Attention (COA) with KJ of COA. In 2011 and 2012 he was nominated for a Pitch Award for "Best Hip-Hop Act".

Education

I love working with kids. They are so impressionable. It's important to lead them in the right path from the beginning. I also believe in the value of cities. A strong city needs educated citizens.

Fashion

My father and grandfather were always very refined, dapper gentlemen. To me, it was an extension of their personality. Great clothes give you the extra edge of poise and confidence you need to set yourself apart.

Cities

Cities are what enable progress. Where people are able to converge in an efficient manner, they are able to innovate, play, and live. I believe the most efficient way to live is in an urban-core - or in a setting that is walkable with active street life, lined with thriving businesses and is able to foster innovation for future generations.

We're The Roos

We're The Roos.jpg

Three years ago I made a song called "Gold & Blue" for my alma-mater University of Missouri - Kansas City. Gold & Blue, which was a remix of Wiz Khalifa's "Black & Yellow", quickly became the anthem for the UMKC athletic department and to this day they still play the song at every game.

I felt it was time, however, to make a new, more unique song. So I came up with what I believe to be a more exciting alternative to the old Gold & Blue standby. Ladies and gentlemen, "We're The Roos". I hope you enjoy it!
